 A Little

   About Me...

This is my first semester at NC State, but I have been teaching first-year writing at UNC Charlotte for the past four years and I have been in the classroom for over nine years. Before joining the world of academia, I taught high school not too far away in Hillsborough, NC (outside of Chapel Hill).

Speaking of Chapel Hill, I'm a TarHeel twice over (sorry, guys) and have both an undergraduate and a graduate degree from UNC Chapel Hill. I also have a MA in English from UNCC with a focus in Composition and Rhetoric. I am now a doctoral student in the Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media program here at NC State.

Within composition and rhetoric, digital rhetoric and new media pedagogy is my primary focus of study. I am fascinated with how the world of communication is shifting and growing within the constraints of new technologies...and part of that fascination has trickled into the classroom by having my students write in digital spaces and create their own websites and digital projects.

If I could be a teacher and a student for the rest of my life, I would die a very happy woman.

When I'm not getting my learn on, I am usually out running, swimming, biking, or hanging out with friends or my dog Pike.

I look forward to an awesome semester full of writing, learning, and laughter.
